Moreton Bay Backs International Women’s American Football Camp

American Football Queensland and City of Moreton Bay Partner to Deliver 2027 Pacific Alliance Bowl

American Football Queensland (AFQ) is proud to announce a new partnership with City of Moreton Bay to support the delivery of the 2027 AFQ x WFA Women’s American Football High Performance Camp – Pacific Alliance Bowl, an international training and development event set to bring athletes, coaches and officials from Australia and the United States to City of Moreton Bay in January 2027.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to growing women’s sport, attracting sporting tourism, and showcasing City of Moreton Bay as a premier destination for high-performance events.

The week-long camp will be delivered in collaboration with the Women's Football Alliance (WFA), the world's largest women's tackle football league, providing Australian athletes with an unprecedented opportunity to train and compete alongside some of the best female American football players and coaches in the world.

AFQ Vice President Alex Ahrens said the support from City of Moreton Bay would help establish the Pacific Alliance Bowl as a landmark event for women’s gridiron in Australia.

“This partnership is about much more than football. It’s about creating opportunities for women in sport, strengthening international relationships, and bringing visitors to one of Queensland’s most vibrant and rapidly growing cities.”

“We’re excited to welcome athletes, coaches, families and supporters from across Australia and overseas to experience everything Moreton Bay has to offer both on and off the field.”

Mayor Peter Flannery said City of Moreton Bay is proud to support an event that elevates opportunities for women in sport while bringing international attention to the city.

“Hosting players of the Pacific Alliance Bowl in their training camp highlights our commitment to backing elite women’s sport and creating pathways for athletes to compete and develop at the highest level,” Mayor Flannery said.

“City of Moreton Bay is well placed to host events of this calibre with our world-class facilities, and we look forward to welcoming international players and fostering a strong cultural and sporting exchange for our community.”

As part of the event, participants and visitors will be encouraged to explore the city’s accommodation, hospitality, tourism and recreational experiences, supporting local businesses while discovering the unique attractions that make Moreton Bay a destination of choice for sporting events and training camps.

The Pacific Alliance Bowl is expected to attract interstate and international visitors, generating economic benefits through accommodation bookings, dining, transport and tourism activities throughout the city.

The support of City of Moreton Bay support will help showcase the city to a global audience through digital marketing, social media, media coverage and promotional activities delivered in partnership with AFQ and the WFA.

The event aligns with AFQ's broader vision of expanding opportunities for women in tackle football while strengthening pathways between Australian athletes and international competition.

The 2027 AFQ x WFA Women's American Football High Performance Camp will be held across multiple locations within City of Moreton Bay from 10–17 January 2027.
